Handcrafted with solid, nickel free sterling silver. I created a custom bezel setting for the rose cut tourmalinated quartz gemstone. This is a clear quartz stone with threadlike black tourmaline inclusions that give it such a unique look. When I was designing the pendant I wanted it to have a lot of texture and dimension. I did this by incorporating a sterling silver disc which I hammer textured and then formed with a shallow inward curve. I built a sterling silver shelf to sit the curve on top of so that it would sit flat when it was being worn and then soldered the bezel setting into the center of the disc. This layered construction really adds interest and gives the pendant a solid feel. Also the curved shape and hammered texture of the silver catches the light beautifully and really highlights the gemstone. The sterling silver bail was created with heavy sterling silver stock. I formed it in such a way that the circle is textured not only on the top but all around the sides too. This wider bail pairs nicely with the width of the pendant and I used two sterling silver balls to connect them and added in some handmade hammered silver links to attach this to the chain. The chain is our heavier weight sterling silver cable link chain and I made it adjustable by including a 2" extender and lobster claw clasp so you can wear it at a variety of lengths making it more versatile. This chain is really sturdy and perfect for everyday wear. The entire piece was polished to a high reflective shine for just the right amount of sparkle!
