Aquamarine Dangle Earrings

I made these aquamarine earrings while experimenting with a slightly different way to suspend two gemstones at different heights. I wanted the stones to have some movement and allow light to pass through them, but rather than simply hanging them from a chain, I decided to create a curved silver element that would become part of the design.

I started with a heavy gauge of Argentium Sterling Silver wire, shaping each piece into an asymmetrical curve with one side slightly shorter than the other. I flared the ends, then carefully hammered both sides to create a beautiful texture. After drilling the ends, I suspended the aquamarine gemstones using silver head pins that I also made by melting the ends of silver wire into little balls.

The aquamarines were really what inspired the design. Both shapes have this lovely, somewhat unusual dusty denim blue color that reminds me of a stormy sky. They're completely natural and untreated, with a soft, milky appearance and beautifully faceted surfaces. I especially liked pairing the little round rondelle with the faceted cube because the different shapes add interest while their matching color keeps everything feeling balanced.

I also made sure the gemstones face forward when worn and that the two earrings mirror one another.

I've had a few requests lately for shorter earrings, and I think these strike a really nice balance. At just 1.9 inches in total length, they're relatively petite, and the pair weighs approximately 3.5 grams, making them comfortable and easy to wear.

The hammered silver is polished to a high shine to catch the light beautifully from every angle, while the soft stormy blue aquamarines add a subtle touch of color. I love that they're a little different from a traditional gemstone dangle earring, but still understated enough to reach for every day, whether you're dressing up or keeping things casual.
