This green tourmaline is such a beautiful stone that I wanted to keep the design really simple and let it stand out. It is a freeform rose cut gemstone, which means it is faceted across the top and flat on the back. I set it over highly polished sterling silver so that light can shine through the transparent stone, reflect off the bright silver underneath and come back through. As the ring moves, it gives the tourmaline a beautiful glow and sparkle.

I placed the stone on an organic shaped silver back plate with a subtle hammered texture and kept the rest of the design minimal. The double ring band is intentionally thinner and more delicate, giving this ring a lighter feel than many of my more substantial ring designs. It still has the detail of a double band, but without adding a lot of visual or physical weight.

I love the simplicity of this one. The organic silver, delicate band and high polished finish give the stone just enough detail around it while keeping the green tourmaline completely at the center of the design.

In addition to a higher silver content, Argentium is also certified nickel free, created from recycled silver, brighter white in color and is naturally tarnish resistant due to having less copper present than traditional silver.
