This one of a kind pink tourmaline ring pairs a rose cut gemstone with an open handmade prong setting and a substantial hammered Argentium sterling silver band.

I really love the color of this pink tourmaline. Instead of a bright pink, it has a softer, almost neutral pink tone with hints of mauve, purple and subtle coral. The color seems to shift a little as the stone moves, and it is one of those beautiful shades that feels like it could go with absolutely everything.

The tourmaline is rose cut, so it is flat on the back and faceted across the top. I loved the way light played through the stone and wanted to take advantage of that, so I created an open prong setting specifically for it. The sides and back remain open, and I elevated the setting slightly above the ring band so light can reach the tourmaline from underneath as well. As you move your hand, the facets catch the light and give the stone a beautiful glow and sparkle.

I paired the stone with a substantial sterling silver band measuring just over 4 mm wide. I gave the band a hammered faceted texture, so the silver catches the light and sparkles along with the tourmaline. I really like the way the texture of the band and facets of the stone play off one another.

The overall design is simple, but the weight of the band and handmade prong setting give it a substantial presence on the finger. It stands out without feeling over the top and still feels like a ring you could reach for and wear every day.
