This one of a kind rainbow moonstone ring features a vibrant blue flash rose cut gemstone with dimensional oxidized Argentium sterling silver details.

This rainbow moonstone has such a beautiful, vibrant blue flash across the surface. It is rose cut, so rather than having the smooth polished surface you often see with moonstone, it has faceting across the top. I really love the way those facets play with the natural blue flash as the ring moves and the light hits it from different angles.

I created a sterling silver disc for the moonstone to sit on and hammer textured the surface with a radiating pattern around the stone. I also added small clusters of melted silver balls for a little more texture and dimension.

I gave the entire ring a high polish first, then oxidized the silver and polished the raised areas again so the darker oxidation remains primarily in the recessed details. I especially love oxidation with rainbow moonstone because that dark contrast makes the blue flash look even more vibrant. It also brings out all of the hammered texture and dimensional details in the silver.

I put a lot of thought into how this ring would feel on the finger. The base hugs the finger like a comfortable, substantial band, and then I built the design dimensionally above it using several silver shapes. It gives the ring a really nice presence from the top while still feeling incredibly comfortable to wear.

I actually have this same ring design with a different stone in my own jewelry collection, and it is possibly my most worn ring. There is something about the way it sits on my finger and catches the light that makes me reach for it all the time. I love looking down and seeing all of the texture and dimension, and this rainbow moonstone version has that incredible blue flash to make it even more interesting.
