Sculptural Silver Leaf Pod Earrings

These Argentium Sterling Silver sculptural leaf pod earrings combine an organic, dimensional form with a lightweight threader-style design for comfortable everyday wear.

I created these earrings while playing with the idea of a tiny sculptural sprout or leaf pod. I wanted the shape to feel organic and botanical without being a literal representation of a leaf or flower, so I focused instead on dimension, line, texture, and the way the different elements interact.

Each earring is constructed by hand using several different weights of silver. The outer curves are made from heavier silver that I flare and hammer to create a wider, subtly textured surface. Through the center, a more delicate piece of silver creates a contrasting line. I hammer-facet just the upper portion of this element, allowing the thickness and texture to change as your eye moves through the design.

The slender ear wire is incorporated directly into the three-dimensional form rather than feeling like a separate finding. It follows the shape of the earring, hugs the ear comfortably, and then continues below the pod before curving back in the opposite direction. I originally added this curve to help make the earrings more secure, but it became one of my favorite details. When worn, that small sweep of silver extends beyond the pod and adds another unexpected sculptural line to the design.

These took quite a bit of experimenting and several prototypes to get the shape and proportions where I wanted them. I especially love the contrast between the smooth, delicate lines and the wider hand-hammered surfaces. Polished to a beautiful high shine, the dimensional silver catches the light beautifully as the earrings move.

The finished pair feels modern and minimalist while still having an organic quality. They are unique silver earrings with a subtle botanical influence and a sculptural shape that changes depending on the angle from which you see them.
